Network entrypoint

BetterSign™

The current public bootstrap peer address is served from the BetterSign server and can be used by peers that need an initial network entrypoint.

Stable identity

A VLAD remains stable while its keys and protected metadata rotate.

Self-verifying history

Every state transition is hash-linked and authorized by the previous log state.

Decentralized discovery

VLADemlia helps peers locate current records without becoming the trust root.

Routine rotation

Key changes become signed updates that followers can verify and apply.

What a Bootstrap Peer Is

BetterSign has no central server, so a brand-new peer needs just one thing to get started: the address of at least one peer already on the network. That is a bootstrap peer — an on-ramp, not an authority.

Once connected, the new peer discovers others through the VLADemlia DHT and fetches provenance logs by content id. The bootstrap peer only helps with introductions; it never decides what is true — every record is still verified locally.

Using It

Point a fresh peer at the address above (or any peer you already trust to be reachable) as its initial entrypoint. After the first successful connection, the peer maintains its own view of the network and no longer depends on any single bootstrap address.

For resilience you can configure more than one bootstrap address; the peer just needs one of them to be reachable in order to join.

Role Network on-ramp, not an authority
After first connect Peer is self-sufficient
Trust Every record still verified locally
